PepperDash hit a big milestone this month: the issuance of our first patent from the US Patent and Trademark Office for our Sentegy® facility management platform. PepperDash has been developing a means of enabling buildings to “think for themselves”, i.e. make important facility management decisions without human input. Patent number 8751432, entitled “Automated facilities management system”, covers our core technology. Sentegy® identifies important patterns in human occupancy and system behavior, then accurately predicts future occupancy and behaviors, which is the most critical component in optimizing facility management.

PepperDash President/CEO, Howard Nunes, has been re-appointed to the InfoComm Smart Buildings Task Force. A strong advocate of extending the reach of the AV industry into integrated building controls, Nunes has been on a succession of InfoComm Task Forces in this area, including: Integrated Building Technologies Best Practices, Sustainable Technology Environments Program (STEP), and AV Sustainability. The Smart Buildings Task Force will continue its focus on implementing the Smart Building Imperative for InfoComm, an effort to open up new opportunities for InfoComm and its constituents in building automation.

PepperDash was instrumental in the successful launch of the Wharton School/Cisco Connected Classroom, demonstrated at a press event on February 25, 2013.
